OUR LEAGUES

The Ottawa Youth Curling League (OYCL) is proud to offer three separate leagues for all types of curlers.  Please review the league descriptions below to find an appropriate league for your skill and interest.

OYCL Open Fixed League (ages 11-20)

This league is designed for fixed teams of four youth curlers who want a weekly game together with similar caliber youth teams. The league games will run on Sunday afternoons at the RCMP CC 3pm to 5pm and/or 5pm to 7pm from late October through March. Depending on the volume of teams, there may be byes and/or games in other facilities occasionally. Teams can be of a single gender or a mix of genders. Teams will range in ability from novice to competitive and an effort will be made to divide teams into groups of like abilities if numbers permit, but all games are played with a focus on fun and skill development.

OYCL Open Non-Fixed League (ages 11-20)

This league is designed for novice to intermediate youth curling individuals who want a weekly game with the goal of developing their game play, meeting other youths of similar age and caliber to form new teams. The league games will run on Sunday afternoons at the RCMP CC @ 3pm to 5pm and/or 5pm to 7pm from late October through March. Depending on the volume of teams, there may be byes and/or games in other facilities occasionally. Teams can be of a single gender or a mix of genders. Each week the teams will be randomized to allow the youths to try new positions and play with new players. We are also encouraging the training of new volunteers that would like to try coaching. Coaches and OYCL alumni players may be on the ice to help mentor the youths on items such as ethics of curling, rules of play, pace of play, strategy, communication.

OYCL Open Doubles League (ages 11-20) * PENDING on ice allocation and interest

This league is designed for youth curlers who want the opportunity to learn and develop their curling skills through the Doubles discipline. This is a great opportunity to learn this fast paced, finesse style, equal opportunistic exciting gameplay. Depending on volume of teams, they will play a full length game or two mini games during their allotted ice times. Curlers are encouraged to enter as a team, although individual curlers are welcome to register and will be paired as a team.
